Those of us lucky enough to procure a ticket to Helen’s Sausage Supper on Friday 11 June enjoyed a really superb evening.  Not only did John, Helen and Melanie put on a super meal including pudding (which was a delightful surprise) but they also ordered a lovely warm sunny evening which, in the pretty setting of their cottage garden, made for a most enjoyable time.  John had organised a cryptic quiz with clues dotted around the garden (the winners were the team of Christine and Tony with 21 points, just one point ahead of the Ed. They had better be very careful on the water over the next few weeks) and with the raffle as well a total of £207 was raised towards Club funds for the purchase of the harbour bed.

Many thanks to John, Helen and Melanie for all their hard work and a very successful evening.

Cheese Tasting Competition Seems a long time ago now but back on a cold night in February we had a cheese tasting competition.  There were 10 different cheeses (with plenty of wine, of course!). Standards were very high and the marks were all very close but Hilary Keene was the clear winner with 7½ out of 10. Yes, it got down to ½ points for accuracy of description; and we managed to raise about £70 for Club funds.

Quiz Night In March John Snelling ably assisted by Helen volunteered to be our “quiz master”.  A really enjoyable fun evening with some testing questions for the “little grey cells”.  The Cockney Rhyming Slang round enabled the brain to run riot with possible answers if you didn’t know the correct one.  Another really good fund raising event.

Visit to Mudeford RNLI Station Just after Easter a group of us spent a fascinating evening at the Mudeford RNLI Station.  Vic Derham very kindly gave us a very interesting talk about the history of the RNLI being set up at Mudeford, their family involvement through the generations, how it operates now and all the details of the current boat they operate.  We were then allowed to crawl all over the boat and ask a whole load of questions. Another really good evening enjoyed by all present.
