Sailing Around the Web with Megabyte
The Wiley Nautical Almanac
This is a good download for free at
http://www.wileynautical.com/view/0/almanac.html
It gives you lots of interesting information on tides and weather at 52 southern ports including Christchurch plus Belgium and N France and Channel Islands; details also on port data and facilities. All the Solent is covered so very useful for the cruising sailor as well as the dinghy sailor. Worth having it on your desktop just for Christchurch weather and tidal info.
Amazing what you can do with a bit of scaffolding!
Boat Trim
This is one of the areas I improved on substantially at Minorca sailing many years ago with top coach Mark Littlejohn (the Sailing Sec was there too!) This tutorial which everyone should checkout is by Steve Cockerill and available at
http://www.roostersailing.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=hints&Store_Code=1
Then go to Articles/Tuning and Boat Trim. Improvement in just this one area could take you many places up the results page this year.
Some interesting action seen in the Solent last year!
Living on the Edge!!!!
Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDToL593cmU
For 6 mins of wonderful video action by many classes including Lasers who are “Living on the Edge” and a bit over it too! Have your sound on as the soundtrack is good too!
Is it possible to Sail at 50MPH?
See for yourself Go to http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=6983763
