My Husband's Mistress
I married a man, a bigamist was he
Too late I discovered he was wed to the sea.
Demands in excess he bore with a smile
No request too great, all effort worthwhile.
His licence – a dinghy, more costly than mine
With reverence he'd polish – no thought to the time
A mistress he'd taken, regardless of cost.
To a racing machine my husband I'd lost.
A lady so clever, a rival so fair,
A solution I'll find but heaven knows where?
The answer is simple – I'll live on the wire
Until of this beauty my husband doth tire.
Many hourS of study, a new language I've learnt.
The lady's a thoroughbred, a name she has earned.
She allows me the privilege of tagging along.
Now I too am caught, her enchantment is strong.
My husband now shares his mistress with me,
And I too am wed to the call of the sea.
The agreement is long for the years we're alive,
Together we'll sail our own 505.
