Mudeford Sailing Club

grandstand

Hi Everyone

It was good to see so many of you at the EGM in September, and to receive apologies from many more who could not make the meeting. To receive the latest updates, come to the AGM at Stanpit Village Hall on Friday 23rd October at 7:30pm. There will be wine and soft drinks available too!

Our club would not be a club without its members. Some of our more illustrious members have been travelling far afield. Congratulations to Phil Sparks (helm) who won gold at the 420 ISAF Youth Worlds and came fourth at the 420 Worlds at Lake Garda. Well done Max for coming fourth in the Silver Fleet at the Laser Worlds in Canada. At the Laser Nationals James Spencer came seventh and was First Youth and Rob Spencer was third overall. Congratulations!

Nearer to home there is some Laser Masters sailing that I and a few other local sailors have been involved with. Dave Holloway, Phil Sowden and Alan Tarrant are aiming to qualify for the Laser Masters Worlds 2010 to be held in the UK at Hayling Island Sailing Club.

I have been along to the ‘Qualifiers’ for the experience - sometimes I wonder why, when I am wallowing around at the back. At Sidmouth, recently, I wasn’t last. There were a few other laser sailors behind me. Sadly, this is very exciting for me! Perhaps persistence is starting to pay off. Perhaps I am picking up more than I recognise from sailing at these events; apart from stress.

See you at the AGM.

Best wishes, Kate Grandfield
