MSC Social Calendar 2010

We have a full social programme which starts at the “between-the-racing” galley where there is ample opportunity for friendly banter, informal coaching, the odd lively discussion about rules and, most important of all, a cup of tea and some delicious chocolate cake!

Sat 6 Mar Quiz Night – at Stanpit Village Hall

Prompt start  at 7pm, £2.50 per person. We are looking for teams of 4 but if you do not have a team we will match you on the night. There will be an American Supper so bring a plate of food to share and don’t forget to bring your own choice of drink and a glass.

Sun 4 Apr Easter Egg Hunt

After racing (about 1630 - Ed) Find all the eggs after racing on Easter Sunday (giving Mike a chance to work out the results before prize giving).

Fri 9 Apr Visit & Talk at RNLI Station Mudeford

7.30 pm

This will take place in the RNLI Lifeboat Station on Mudeford Quay and provided it has not been called out you get to sit in the lifeboat.  Numbers will be strictly limited making this on a “first come, first serve” basis.  The talk (which covers the work of the RNLI and the history of the lifeboat station at Mudeford) takes about 2 hours and you will be able to ask questions at the end as well.  There is no charge but donations are always welcome.

Fri 11 Jun Sausage Supper by Helen Snelling

Max no of people 30. £5 per head.  Make sure you get your name down early as this is a very popular event.

Sat 10 July

Gardens Open Day 14.00 pm onward? Several of us (relatively keen) gardeners thought of opening our gardens to other members and their friends with the idea of all ending up in one of the gardens for cream tea. (Like the yellow book but very low key and informal – so don’t panic).  The gardens will all be within walking distance of each other, therefore need to be around Mudeford.  We already have several volunteers but need more both for gardens and to help out with cream teas – if you would like to join in please contact one of the social team.  The garden doesn’t have to be large or “perfect”.  It can be a “project”, before and/or after, or just your own piece of green heaven to sit in the sun - anything. It is just a fun afternoon for all us gardeners with a bit of fund raising thrown in!

Fri 23 Jul Evening River Trip to rowing club

Departing MSC jetty at 7 pm in “Topcat” and “Dabchick” and ending up at the Christchurch Rowing Club for a drink.  We return after dark so don’t forget to bring a torch, and of course your lifejacket. (and waders?? – Ed)

This takes us up to Mudeford Week which will be 7-13 August this year (social events will appear in the next Newsletter).
